1. The students will be assessed throughout each step of writing a public-service announcement. There will be an assessment for students appropriately planning to develop their public-service announcement, revising their text to present the message more clearly, and reflecting on the writing process.
2. Students will present their public-service announcement to their class as a final exam.

Learning Activity
The students will:
1. Recall a public-service announcement heard on the radio or seen on television. Identify the main message of the announcement and list any details remembered.
2. Read the selection about Public-Service announcements.
3. Brainstorm a topic for a public-service announcement. Remember to catch your audience's attention and plan to leave a lasting impression.
4. Follow the following steps and create a public-service announcement. a) Choose a focus. b) Research background materials. c) Utilize different media. d) Organize ideas. e) Format the public-service announcement. f) Review the do's and don'ts. g) Write a final draft. h) Present the new public-service announcement.
Instructional Method
The teacher will:
1. Ask students to recall public-service anouncements that they have heard on the radio or television. Tell students to identify the main message of the announcement and list any details remembered.
2. Guide students as they read the selection about Public-Service announcements.
3. Assist students they choose a topic for their public-service announcement. Explain to students that they will create a public-service announcement that catches their audience's attention and leaves a lasting impression.
4. Assist students as they follow the steps for creating a public-serice announcement. a) Encourage students to select as a focus a problem that they have experienced or have a deep interest in. b) Guide students as the thoroughly explore their topic. Information needs to be presented in a fresh, creative way. c) Decide who the audience is and which type of media that group is more likely to see/hear. d) Public-service announcements are usually brief, students need to be guided in getting rid of unnecessary information. e) Guide students into treating their public-service announcement as an advertisment for their ideas. Use eye catching visuals. f) Help students clean up their announcement by reading the do's and don'ts. g) Practice giving announcements to small groups before a large audience so to clear up mistakes. Make corrections as needed. h) Keep audience on task as new public-service announcements are presented.
